POWERING ON safety sequence

  1. Secure the robot with every moving part clear of the surface.
  2. Confirm that the Driver Station shows DISABLED.
  3. Look around the complete work area.
  4. Call out “POWERING ON!”
  5. Give everyone time to step behind the boundary.
  6. Visually confirm that people, hands, tools, wires, hair, and clothing are clear.
  7. Select INIT or START only when the test area is safe.

Press STOP and visually confirm DISABLED before anyone approaches or adjusts the robot.

What students practice

Students audit five hardware configuration names, calculate split-arcade drive and trigger-subtraction outputs, perform a controlled wheels-up test, and compare code, telemetry, and physical movement before proposing a correction.

The original seven-part course remains the foundation. This applied capstone shows how those ideas work together on a more complete robot.
